The difficulties now confronting a number of major US banks has seen one of them removed from a key index to be replaced by the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ Group).
Dow Jones Indexes announced today that it was replacing US bank Wachovia Corporation with the ANZ Group on its Dow Jones Banks Titans 30 Index.
Dow Jones said that Wachovia was being removed because of its pending acquisition by Citigroup Inc. It said the changes to the index would be effective as of the opening of trading on Thursday.
