AMP Capital Investors has temporarily opened its Structured High Yield Fund to retail investors to celebrate the institutional fund reaching a milestone $1 billion in FUM.
Retail investors will be able to access the fund through the Macquarie Wrap Solutions Platform from today until October 3 this year.
A minimum retail investment through the platform is $5,000, while institutional investors will continue to require a minimum investment of $10 million.
Head of structured high yield and debt Andrew Jones attributed the fund’s success since its launch in 1997 to AMP Capital’s “flexibility of approach” to the debt funding deals it negotiates with businesses.
“The size of our business means we are able to be the sole provider of debt to businesses, rather than having to pool our funds with other investors.
“This allows us to negotiate attractive deals with businesses, and pass these benefits to our investors,” Jones said.
The fund invests in “high yielding assets, with less volatility than traditional bonds, and with greater diversification than is achievable from single-sector, high-income funds,” he said.
“Because we are investing in lower risk assets, with stable earnings profiles, we are able to generate a regular stream of income for our investors.”
