AMP has launched TeleDr, a new phone-based service that cuts the underwriting time taken to access medical records.
TeleDr has seen the underwriting process of obtaining medical information from doctors via written requests drop from around three weeks to an average of five days, according to AMP.
Under the new system, a healthcare professional from the Unified Healthcare Group (UHG) will telephone the customer’s doctor directly and offer to obtain the required medical information over the phone.
Until now the process of accessing medical records has been time-consuming and costly, AMP chief underwriter Bernadene Gordon said.
“The length of time it can take to obtain medical information is a significant impediment to completing business quickly,” Gordon said.
