Grant Thornton has continued its investment in financial services, appointing Himashini Weeraratne to build the firm’s specialist tax expertise.

Within that, Weeraratne would focus on asset management, superannuation and fintech, concentrating on boutique funds and small to mid-size high growth financial organisations.

She would bring extensive experience in the financial services sector to the role, including stints at Deloitte, Blackrock, First State Super, NAB Wealth and the New South Wales Treasury. In these positions, she delivered compliance and advisory engagements.

Weeraratne’s appointment followed Chris Watson’s recent return as partner to the firm’s financial advisory team in Brisbane.

“Himashini’s strong expertise in the financial services industry will be a great addition to our team and benefit to our clients. We are excited about expanding our expertise in this important area,” Madeleine Mattera, Grant Thornton’s financial services industry group lead partner said.
