MLC Asset Management expands investment team
MLC Asset Management has internally appointed two joint heads of the capital markets research team and co-portfolio managers of choice products.
Grant Mizens and Ben McCaw would take up their new joint roles under Dan Farmer, MLC chief investment officer.
Prior to their new positions, Mizens and McCaw were both co-portfolio managers of the MLC suite of multi-managers.
Mizens had an eight-year history with the firm and formerly held roles as a senior consultant at JANA Investment Advisers and a non-executive director of Paralympics Australia.
Before his 14 years at MLC, McCaw worked at eG Capital as an equity analyst as well as at Asia Pacific BioVentures as an investment analyst.
“Grant and Ben have a deep understanding of constructing multi-manager portfolios combined with an already strong working relationship,” said Farmer.
He added that the appointments reflected the firm’s established succession plan within its investment team.
Al Clark, previous head of diversified portfolio management and the capital markets research team, was leaving MLC to explore other opportunities.
The CIO continued: “We would like to thank Al for his valued contribution over the years, and he leaves with our best wishes. Importantly, we are able to provide continuity for clients and stakeholders as our robust investment process and depth of talent reduce key person dependencies”.
Alongside Farmer, Mizens and McCaw would actively work with Stanley Yeo, head of strategy and equities, as well as the broader investment team of 46 people.
