The Assistant Treasurer, Josh Frydenberg, is expected to speak further on the issue of superannuation governance when he delivers the opening keynote address to the inaugural Workplace Superannuation Specialists Association (WSSA) conference in Sydney on Thursday, 27 August.

Frydenberg made clear at the recent Financial Services Council annual conference on the Gold Coast that he believed the Government's proposals for at least one third independent directors on the boards of superannuation funds had garnered strong cross-industry support.

The conference will also traverse the issue of insurance within superannuation and the future of the default superannuation funds regime.
