The Commonwealth Bank has increased the number of women in its senior executive ranks, announcing this week that it had appointed Anna Lenahan as its new Group general counsel and group executive Group corporate affairs.

Lenahan's appointment was confirmed by Commonwealth Bank chief executive, Ian Narev, who said she would be filling the vacancy left following the previously announced appointment of David Cohen as Group chief risk officer.

Lenahan is currently chief risk and legal officer at Suncorp Group, prior to which she was a partner with Allens Arthur Robinson.

Lenahan will assume her role later this year and report to Narev.
