BetaShares appoints new head of institutional business
Australian exchange-traded fund (ETF) provider BetaShares has announced the appointment of Dan Annan to the newly-created role of director, Institutional Business.
Prior to this role, he was in charge of iShares’ institutional sales in Australia and New Zealand.
He would be responsible for the firm’s activities with institutional investors while working closely with BetaShares’ co-heads of distribution, Peter Harper and Vinnie Wadhera.
Annan joined from BlackRock Investments where held various roles across the business in the US, including with iShares Private Wealth Management, capital markets, and the fixed income ETF team.
Alex Vynokur, BetaShares’ chief executive, said the appointment reflected the growth of his company’s business and the ETF industry in Australia as a whole.
“Since the launch of our first ETFs in December 2010, our business has evolved considerably and we now offer the broadest range of exchange-traded funds in Australia, providing solutions for a wide range of investors,” he said.
“The industry is maturing rapidly in Australia, with institutions using ASX-traded ETFs increasingly frequently for a range of portfolio applications.
“We are confident that such institutional usage will only continue to grow over time and we are positioning ourselves to meet the demand.”
