AIST appoints interim CEO
The Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST) has opted to appoint an interim chief executive ahead of the looming departure of Tom Garcia later this month.
The AIST board announced today that it had appointed experienced staffer, Eva Scheerlinck as acting CEO.
It said Scheerlinck – who has served in the role of AIST executive manager, governance and stewardship since 2010 – would begin her new role after Garcia departed on 10 March.
The board announcement said the appointment of Scheerlinck would bring stability and leadership to AIST while the search for a new CEO continued.
It said applications for the CEO position closed last Friday and interviews for the role have now begun.
Garcia – who announced he was stepping down from the role of CEO late last year – will continue his career in the profit-to-member superannuation sector, taking up an appointment with AustralianSuper.
