SG Hiscock hires researchers and consultants head
SG Hiscock has appointed American Century’s former Australian head of wholesale to its distribution team in the head of researchers and consultants position.
The Australian fund manager, which has $3.3 billion in funds under management, has welcomed Alastair McKibbin as its new head of researchers and consultants.
Effective 13 January 2025, McKibbin will report to Anthony Cochran, head of distribution, and be based in Sydney.
In the head of researchers and consultants role, he will drive channel opportunities across SG Hiscock’s Australian and global equities and property securities, as well its partnership program with Morgan Stanley Investment Management, EAM Investors, abrdn Investments, and LaSalle Investment Management Securities.
McKibbin previously spent over five years at American Century Investments, where he began as global strategic relationship manager, based in New York, and was later appointed to the Sydney-based role of head of wholesale for Australia.
Prior to this, he held several senior roles at State Street Global Advisors in New York, including head of ETF managed portfolio solutions for the US SPDR ETF business, as well as AllianceBernstein and ING Australia.
According to Cochran, McKibbin’s global experience working across various asset classes will be crucial as the fund manager continues to grow its offerings throughout Australia.
“Alastair has been working in the industry for over 20 years both in Australia and the US. He has extensive knowledge and experience in funds management, working in business development and working with a wide network of existing relationships with key researchers and consultants,” the head of distribution commented.
“He will be a valuable addition to our distribution team and we look forward to broadening the reach of SG Hiscock and its partners’ offerings to Australian investors.”
Last month, SG Hiscock also announced the appointment of Jason Smit as a business development manager, based in Melbourne, and also reporting to Cochran.
Smit will work with current and prospective clients, strengthening and expanding the firm’s relationships among wholesale and retail investment channels, as well as dealer goods and financial adviser networks in Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia.
Prior to joining SG Hiscock, he held the position of regional manager at Alexander Funds and previously worked at Dimensional Fund Advisors and Macquarie Group.
“Jason has a proven track record of successfully managing clients in the private wealth, institutional and retail sectors, providing a high level of client service, and has a thorough understanding of fixed income, equities and specialist investments,” Cochran said.
“His strong background in wealth management and business development makes him a great fit for this role and we look forward to joining us, and contributing to expanding our business footprint nationally.”
