AFA appoints general counsel, professionalism
Former Chartered Accountants Australia (CPA) head of professional conduct, Linda Vogel is joining the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) in a new role which will see her work on developing the AFA code and practice guides.
AFA chief executive, Philip Kewin said Vogel would work alongside the body’s manager of policy and professionalism to assist in its transformation to a monitoring body of an Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)-approved code scheme.
Kewin said Vogel would be a valuable addition to the industry body and would bring its regulatory measures up to scratch.
“Vogel’s primary role with the AFA is to develop the AFA’s Professional Standards and Ethics Code, associated processes, governance and guides,” he said.
“[She] is a highly-qualified lawyer with over 30 years’ legal experience including as general counsel and company secretary for listed and unlisted organisations.”
Vogel would report to AFA general manager, policy and professionalism, Samantha Clarke. She was most recently senior legal counsel at Deloitte Touche Tohmastu.
