Former Schroders group chief operating officer, Markus Ruetimann, is joining the Global Prime Partners' board in the position of senior non-executive director.

Ruetimann had worked for over 25 years in the financial services industry in Geneva and London, and previously worked in management positions with Phillips & Drew and UBS Global Asset Management prior to his most recent position with asset manager, Schroders.

Global Prime Partners chief executive, Julian Parker, said the appointment of Ruetimann would help to strengthen the company as it transitioned into a new phase.

"We are well positioned to take advantage of opportunities in the near term. Having someone of Markus' calibre will be invaluable," he said.

"We are [continuing] our expansion, starting with the launch of our structured products business in early 2017."

Ruetimann's position with Global Prime Partners would be an addition to various other non-executive positions, as well as a position as a Trustee of Action for Children.
