Govt reappoints ARPC chair
The Federal Government this week announced the reappointment of the part-time chair of the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation for a further 18 months.
The Minister for Small Business and Assistant Treasurer, Kelly O'Dwyer, said Joan Fitzpatrick had been reappointed to chair the organisation, renewing her appointment which began in January, 2013.
The minister said Fitzpatrick had vast board experience and insurance industry knowledge, including as director of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority from 2005 to 2014 and as chief executive of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance from 1997 to 2013.
The ARPC administers a scheme that provides insurance cover for eligible terrorism losses involving commercial property, associated business interruption losses and public liability.
The scheme was initiated to protect Australia's economy from the global withdrawal of terrorism insurance for commercial property in the wake of the 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States.
