ASFA (Association of Super Funds of
Australia)
ASFA is the industry body for superannuation, and their
site contains policy statements, research and a dictionary of superannuation
terms for the uninitiated. Representing about 600 member superannuation funds
and 80 per cent of superannuation members in Australia, it is a good starting
place for a snapshot of the superannuation industry.

ASIC (Australian Securities and
Investments Commission)
The home of the Australian investment watchdog on the
Internet allows you to perform basic company searches or order a more detailed
search from organisations such as Dun & Bradstreet, Australian Business
Research, among others. The site is also home to the ASIC's policy papers as
they are released to the public, the Gull Awards for tales of burned investors,
and a section dedicated to changes made to the law.

CPA Online (Australian Society of CPAs)
The tax reform information mecca! CPA Online has an entire
section of its site devoted purely to tax reform, with a downloadable file on
the impact of the GST on advisors (though, in this sense, they are talking
mostly about tax advisors). The site contains thorough information on almost
every tax move the government makes (or thinks about making). It also contains
the ASCPA's annual report, and member information.

FPA (Financial Planning Association)
This website is available both to the general web
browsing public, and for FPA members, who are able to log onto the Members Only
section of the site. Joe Public can search for FPA members in his area, and can
also take the wealth creation Driver Test to ascertain his financial planning
needs. Also contained on the site are media releases relating to FPA policy and
government legislation, among other things. Members are also able to register
for the 1999 FPA Conference in Sydney.

ICAA (Institute of Chartered
Accountants in Australia)
The web home of Chartered Accountants contains information
on how to become one, as well as the latest edition of Charter, it's magazine.
Like the FPA's site, there is a members-only section. There is a section on the
latest news at the Institute and an employment section. Also of interest is the
CA WebTrust link, which tells you a bit about this recent e-commerce
'safeguard' product the Institute has developed to protect consumers who are
called on to give out confidential information when purchasing a product over
the web.

Pensions & Investments Online
Far be it from us to recommend other publisher sites, but
US-based Pensions & Investments Online is well worth a look. This magazine goes
out to 180,000 fund managers and institutional investors, and the site contains
daily news from the US market. It also includes US pension fund profiles and an
IPO alert. Also check out the link to InvestmentNews, a US publication aimed at
the financial adviser market.
