Challenger-owned dealer group Genesys Wealth Advisers is looking to Australia’s high school students to find the next generation of financial planners.

The Packer-backed dealer group has just established a new cadetship program that will see students that have finished their final year 12 studies given part time work in member firms or at head office while they embark on their business, commerce or economics degree at university.

“We’re trying to get the brightest young kids from schools,” Genesys managing director Ray Miles said.

He said Genesys had already picked up two teens from Mount Barker College in NSW who scored 99.7 and 98.5 in their high school certificate examinations respectively.

Miles said only about three or four students would be taken on in the first 12 months of the program, but added more students would be taken in on a regular basis if the program worked well.
