ColonialFirstStateGlobal Asset Management has signalled its intention to launch a new global listed infrastructure fund in the next few months.

Colonial First State chief investment officer David Dixon flagged the company’s intention at the same time as announcing the appointment of former Credit Suisse executive Peter Meany to the new position of head of listed infrastructure securities at CFS.

“Listed infrastructure securities is an emerging specialist asset class that is expected to grow significantly over the coming years, and it is our intention to be a major player in this space,” he said.

Dixon said that while CFS Global Asset Management already had a successful business in the unlisted infrastructure area, investors were increasingly seeking to gain exposure to the asset class through more listed products.

“Reflecting this, CFS Global Asset Management’s intention is to launch a new global listed infrastructure securities fund in the coming months,” he said.
