Zenith has recently rated the Russell Australian Select Holdings Fund ‘recommended’.
The fund selects the most favoured overweight positions from the six external fund managers Russell invests in for its multi-manager Australian Shares Fund.
Each of these managers uses different investment styles to construct its Australian equities portfolio. If all or the majority of these managers select the same stocks in over index weight positions, the stocks should outperform.
The investment process behind the management of the fund is essentially two-tiered. It involves the research and selection of the underlying managers as well as the application of the quantitative algorithm used to select the stocks and their weightings in the portfolio.
The latest Macquarie Professional Series fund, the EII Global Property Fund, has received a four-star rating from Standard & Poor’s (S&P).
The fund invests in international property securities outside Australia, with its portfolio construction a function of qualitative and quantitative screening, top-down research, fundamental research and bottom-up stock selection.
S&P found the manager’s strength lies in the extensive experience of the principal owners and its representation in each of the major markets.
The manager adopts an active, benchmark-unaware investment style, high-conviction philosophy and opportunistic strategy, which is well suited to the international property securities universe.
