The critical issues in education and training for the financial planning profession will be addressed in November, in the one of the first Financial Planning Educators Symposiums.
Professor of Accounting at University of Western Sydney (UWS), Roger Juchau says the symposium will give industry bodies and individuals an opportunity to discuss the changes and issues facing financial planning education.
“This is the first symposium of its kind held in Australia. We believe it is high time to confront the issues in financial planning education,” he says.
Juchau believes financial planning is one of the few professions where people must constantly anticipate “tomorrow and deal with the future”.
He says the challenges and issues to be discussed include curriculum trends and developments, professional and industry training initiatives, regulation and pru-dential supervision developments, undergraduate and postgraduate education pro-vision.
He says participants will also find out about research opportunities, academic and professional education linkages, professional certification trends and continuing education challenges.
Professor Thomas Eysell from the University of Missouri will also discuss the lat-est international trends and developments in the US financial planning education.
The symposium will be hosted by the University of Western Sydney (UWS) Hawkesbury, Financial Services Group from November 9-10.
