Former Goldman Sachs exec joins Principal AM

Michael Goosay has been appointed as the managing director of global fixed income at Principal Asset Management.  
He will also be the portfolio manager on Principal Fixed Income’s flagship short-term income, core, core plus and US/global multisector strategies and associated products.

In the role, Goosay’s remit will include building its multisector fixed income investment strategies and solutions. Its $135.7 billion fixed income platform currently has over 110 investment professionals. 

“Michael’s experience, leadership and creativity will further bolster our already strong global fixed income capabilities. We look forward to his leadership and overall contribution in helping best serve our clients worldwide,” said Kamal Bhatia, global head of investments at the firm.

Commenting on the appointment, Goosay said: “I am proud to join Principal Asset Management as managing director of global fixed income. I look forward to building upon the firm’s robust fixed income capabilities to advance client investment objectives by tailoring the right strategies to achieve them.”

He brings over 25 years’ of investment industry experience to the role, having spent 14 years at Goldman Sachs Asset Management as head of global pensions and multisector fixed income portfolio management. 

Previously, he was the director of portfolio management at Drake Management for over two years and vice president of strategic trading at JPMorgan Chase for around a year and a half. 

Principal Asset Management has more than 1,100 institutional clients in over 80 markets. It is the global investment solutions business for Principal Financial Group, managing $525.2 billion in assets.
